Medical Spas > Massage
Massage treatment is the practice of soft tissue manipulation undertaken to reduce pain and stress not just on the muscles but also on the mind. Pressure, vibration, and mechanical aids may be used. There are over eighty different methods that have been described.
Joint, muscle, and tendon discomfort can be relieved as well as some neurological symptoms like tingling or numbness. The psychological benefits are often the most significant and include better coping and lessened depression or anxiety.

Massage is most commonly performed by licensed massage therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, chiropractors, and, of course, your special other. It is often combined with other day spa treatments as part of a relaxation package.
Those with deep vein thrombosis, bleeding disorders, osteoporosis, fractures, or other medical conditions may wish to avoid or at least limit vigorous massage treatments.
