Medical Spas > Intense Pulsed Light
In tensed Pulsed Light (IPL) is a method used both for photorejuvenation of the skin as well as hair removal. It employs a xenon flash lamp inside of a wand handpiece with focusing optics.
IPL is cheaper and faster than laser hair removal and the results are considered to be roughly equivalent.
Pain during treatment is minimal and downtime is next to none.

In hair removal, intense pulsed light traverses the skin until contacting the root of the hair. Light is absorbed by the surrounding melanin as opposed to the hair shaft, and the resulting heat vaporizes most of the shaft and sometimes the entire follicle.
Intense pulsed light can also be used for treating broken capillaries, birth marks, acne rosacea, regular acne, and sun damaged skin.
