Less Invasive > Mesotherapy & Lipodissolve

Mesotherapy, sometimes called fat melting, consists of a series of multiple injections of varying cocktails of pharmaceutical and homeopathic compounds such as plant extracts, hormones, and vitamins into the fat just below the skin. The chemical compounds supposedly cause fat cells to rupture and die.

There is no good research to prove that the mesotherapy works only on the fat, and many doctors consider the procedure a dangerous fad promising false hope for a quick fix to thin down fat or cellulite. Some patients have experienced abscesses, infections, nodules and divots, while others experience nothing at all--including any improvement.

Lipodissolve, or injection lipolysis, is really the same procedure with a more catchy name. Once dissolved, nobody knows what happens to the fat or if it may cause medical problems like a "fatty liver" or wind up in your blood vessels.

The FDA has taken the position that the mixtures of chemicals injected are an example of "unapproved drugs for unapproved uses." Numerous national medical associations have issued health warnings cautioning people seeking such treatments.
