Hair > Hair Transplantation
Hair transplantation is the top cosmetic procedure among men, but some women also seek care. Expertly performed, hair transplantation can yield permanent and close to natural looking results.
Hair cannot be transferred person to person, so a good candidate must have existing healthy hair on the sides or back of the head. Grafts containing just one or two follicles, up to four follicles (mini-grafts), up to ten follicles (slip grafts or punch grafts), or up to forty hairs (strip grafts) may be utilized as needed.
Each graft must be placed in firm contact with healthy tissue to allow oxygenation needed for survival. Equally important is the orientation of the graft and, of course, the aesthetic sense of the surgeon.

Hair transplantation requires multiple sessions, most lasting several hours, and so costs are high. While many people are familiar with the concept of transferring tiny clusters of hair to a new position, treatment may also entail extensive surgery to achieve reduction of bare scalp area or rotation of hair bearing flaps of skin into more visible positions.
Hair transplantation is an extremely specialized surgical skill, and most general plastic surgeons have little or no training and experience. The best practitioners are dermatologists whose practices emphasize or are fully devoted to this art and science.
