Cosmetic Dentistry > Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain dental veneers are thin ceramic facings placed over the front of a tooth with an adhesive that can typically last from 10-30 years. They are durable (although can fracture) and not easily stained.
In the past, the only way to cover some dental flaws was to cover the tooth with a crown or resin bonding.

Why Do It?
Porcelain veneers can be used to close spaces, whiten, lengthen, reshape, and even straighten teeth. Their main use is cosmetic, but veneers can be employed to protect a damaged surface or on a tooth with superficial disease or discoloration of the enamel.
While a full mouth of porcelain veneers can look stunning, some people feel the result appears too unnatural or even bulky. They are also very expensive.
