Cosmetic Surgery > Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Cosmetic eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty or cosmetic eye surgery, is one of the most delicate of all plastic surgery operations. Used to treat sagging skin and bulging fat, the difference between good surgery, bad surgery, and ho-hum surgery is small.
Aesthetics is another issue altogether. Some less experienced surgeons favor aggressive approaches that can hollow and look artificial. Because the eyes are the focal point of the face, finesse and flaws in surgeon technique show more here than in any other type of cosmetic surgery.

Why Do It?
Loss of skin elasticity can make a person look old, while bulging lower fat bags can make a person look tired. A bright set of eyes, however, can take years off a face and make some people look as energetic as they still feel deep down inside.
When skin overhangs the lashes and blocks vision, blepharoplasty may be considered "non-cosmetic." Most patients in this category are elderly and less concerned about the fine points of eye aesthetics than being able to see comfortably.
