Cosmeceuticals > Moisturizers

Moisturizers are designed to return moisture (water) and not oil back into dry skin. If your skin is dry, application of a light moisturizer should be part of a more comprehensive approach. If your skin isn't dry, don't bother.

But what about those miracle moisturizers that claim to be dramatically different? Products that claim to contain (trace amounts) of super-chemicals (like anti-freeze) you've never heard of? Products that suggest your skin will soon look as smooth as when it was still puffed up with baby fat?

You're wasting your money. Water is water, but beautiful packages, dispensers, and signage can easily convince you otherwise.

For industrial strength dryness that's become a medical problem, see the Skin Care Section for common sense tips to help skin stay better hydrated and for the names of a few proven but inexpensive heavy duty moisturizers.
